Lost Ice Age Civilisation
The hypothesis that an advanced civilisation existed during the last Ice Age and was lost to catastrophic flooding at the end of the Younger Dryas.
An advanced global civilisation predating known history may have been destroyed by a cataclysm around 12,000 years ago.
Göbekli Tepe and Karahan Tepe demonstrate monumental construction by hunter-gatherers circa 9600 BCE. Underwater features at Bimini and Yonaguni are cited as possible evidence.
Göbekli Tepe is accepted as a Neolithic ritual site but does not evidence an advanced technological civilisation. Yonaguni's structure is considered natural or modified geology by most geologists.
No artefactual evidence of advanced technology, writing or metallurgy from this period has been found. The hypothesis relies on interpreting ambiguous structures.
The full extent of Ice Age human capability remains an open question, but no evidence of a lost technological civilisation has been confirmed.
